Rheology of Earth Materials :

Closing the gap between timescales in the laboratory and in the mantle

1st February 2021 - Marie settles in La Rochelle.

Starting February 1st, 2021, Marie Landeiro Dos Reis starts a new job in La Rochelle in the team of Xavier Feaugeas at Laboratoire des sciences de l'ingénieur pour l'environnement (LASIE)

One of the team's issues is the study of the influence of microstructure (at the atomic, molecular and microstructural scale) on degradation processes and their consequences on the durability of materials.

In particular, Marie is going to collaborate with Caroline Traisnel, who is working on hydrogen embrittlement phenomena on the surface of nickel. The aim of the post-doc is to study at the atomic scale the effect of a surface or an interface on the vacancy/hydrogen interaction in nickel. For this she will use the DFT method (with the Quantum code ESPRESSO) which will provide input data for a Monte Carlo type dynamic model.
