26-30 October 2026 - Journées de la Matière Condensée
Toulouse
The Journées de la Matière Condensée (JMC 2026) will take place in Toulouse, France, from 26 to 30 October 2026. Organized by the French Physical Society, this major conference brings together researchers from across the condensed matter physics community.
Three members of our team — Philippe Carrez, Patrick Cordier and Caroline Traisnel — will contribute to the scientific programme with the following presentations:
-
Philippe Carrez — “Stress-Induced Amorphization in Olivine: a Transformation-Induced Plasticity mechanism” (Invited talk).
-
Patrick Cordier, with Q. Shu, N. Gauquelin and H. Idrissi — “Nanoscale deformation mechanisms in phyllosilicates” (Oral presentation).
-
Caroline Traisnel — “Vacancies in Mg2SiO4 body-centered tetragonal phase at 1 TPa: a DFT study” (Oral presentation).
These contributions highlight complementary approaches to understanding mineral deformation and defects, from nanoscale experiments to atomistic modelling under extreme conditions.
