Rheology of Earth Materials :
Closing the gap between timescales in the laboratory and in the mantle

The ODisCli project has been selected

Olivine Dislocation Climb: from point defect diffusion to dislocation interaction and climb (ODisCli)

The goal of this project is to develop an atomic scale modelling of the climb of dislocations in olivine. Since climb results from the interaction between point defects and a dislocation, an accurate description of climb requires simulations at the atomic level combining static and molecular dynamic calculations in order to compute the complex diffusion pathways.

The "ERC-Generator" call for projects was initiated by the I-SITE foundation in 2018 to encourage the submission of ERCs within the University of Lille. This year, 38 ERC GENERATOR projects were submitted to the University, seven of which were submitted by women. Eleven projects were selected by the jury chaired by Valérie Gabelica, Director of the European Institute of Chemistry and Biology in Pessac/Bordeaux.
